DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION INFRASTRUCTURE IN MAYUGE DISTRICT
Introduction:
Habitat for Humanity Uganda (HFHU), affiliated to Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. Since 1982, HFHU has built, rehabilitated or repaired more than 40,000 homes, providing simple, affordable shelter to approximately 240,000 people in Uganda.
As part of its drive to provide basic services, HFHU is planning to implement a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Project in Bukabooli Sub-County, Mayuge District, Eastern Uganda. We would like to invite eligible and suitably qualified companies to submit their bid documents to express interest in the Design and Construction of Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure/Facilities in the above region.
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to design and construct a motorized water-well, design and build rainwater harvesting systems and construct sanitation facilities in selected primary schools throughout the above-named region.
Scope:
The selected contractor shall implement the activities in the lots they have bid for based on the details in the Terms of Reference (which you can download below). In case a contractor is bidding for more than one lot, they should ensure that they submit a bid for each lot separately in a single, spiral bound copy.
LOTS
Lot 1
Design, drill and motorize ten (10) cubic meter solar powered deep well with a 50 cubic meter water storage tank and connection to two (2) communal water points in Makoma Village, Bukabooli Sub-County, Mayuge District.
Lot 2
Design and construction of rainwater harvesting systems with rainwater goods, storage tanks, distribution systems to hand washing stations and public tap in the three (3) schools of Bugoto Lake Primary School, Nakasuwa Primary School and Bugumya Moslem Primary School in Bukabooli Sub-County, Mayuge District.
Lot 3
Construction of two (2) ablution blocks of gender sensitive VIP latrines (1 block of 7 stances for girls and 1 block of 6 stances for boys) with rainwater harvesting systems with storage tank, handwashing station in Bugumya Primary School in Bukabooli Sub-County, Mayuge District.

Lot 4
Design and fabricate 15 portable handwashing facilities to be placed in Bugumya Primary School, Bugoto Lake Primary School and Nakasuwa Primary school. The handwashing facilities should have the capacity of 50liters each. each unit consists of a large water container, usually plastic barrel, fitted with a tap of spigot to facilitate access to water. They are mounted on a sturdy frame and have a pump mechanism operated by foot pedals to ensure that hands are not contaminated throughout the handwashing process. Visual instructions should be displayed to encourage the correct handwashing including the donor organization logos. Dispensers for soap or hand sanitizer must be integrated to promote hygiene practices.
Lot 4 bids must include (very clear, high resolution) design photos, financial proposals, and delivery time in the bid. The successful bidder will share samples before final execution and delivery.
Final delivery will be in the 3 schools in the presence of HFHU staff who will verify that all facilities are in good working order and as specified.

Eligible and interested service providers or companies should submit a hard copy of their Expression of Interest Bid (EOI) along with all required accompanying documents to the Procurement Committee, Habitat for Humanity Uganda, Plot 1027 Lukadde Road, Kyaliwajjala, P. O. Box 163027 Kampala Uganda before 3:00Pm on 18th November 2024.
Bid opening will be at 10am on 19th November 2024. every bidder MUST send a representative to be part of this process. Failure to send a representative will lead to disqualification.
The best evaluated Expression of Interest will be selected in accordance with open domestic bidding procedures contained in the HFHU Procurement Policy and is open to companies that are eligible to conduct business within Uganda.
